I'm in denial over the whole LJ moving to tumblr thing. I can't REALLY get into it the way I used to, and it bothers me. I miss the discussion and interaction that was so much easier on LJ (and DW to some degree).

I can't really see myself "growing out of" fandom, though. The way I interact with fandom is changing, but I still find myself getting excited over shows, talking about it with friends, playing games with friends, etc. I'm just less into the internet side of things and more into sharing it with IRL friends.

Tumblr is great for pictures and gifs and shit for actual discussion. I'm hoping that either DW will catch on more for fandom activities, or something new will pop up (or that LJ will stop making stupid decisions, but that's a shot in the dark).

Yeah, I like the picture aspect of it. It's been GREAT for me finding fashion inspiration photos, in particular. But since I'm mostly a person that enjoys meta and fanfic in fandom, tumblr leaves me a little cold. It's just not as useful for text.

Yeah, Tumblr is terrible for fic and meta. The only way to comment or attempt to have a conversation is pretty clunky. Not to mention people can easily edit the original text of whatever you posted when they reblog and... yeeeah. I'll be sticking to AO3 and LJ for fic for now.
