I think she's awesome as a villain and I'm sort of sad to see that she's going to be redeemed. Besides, she raped and muredered poor hot Graham and I'm still mourning him. I wasn't sorry at all when Henry dumped her. But I guess I'm okay if she's eventually one of the good ones, even if I'll miss her crazy self.

Otoh, justifying or forgiving fictional villains isn't something new.

Any ep where they were physically intimate. He literally had no choice but obey her, even when he wasn't aware of it in Storybrooke. She had his heart in her vault.

In the episode "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter", it was made clear that their relationship wasn't exactly...consensual. In Fairy Tale land, Regina ripped out the Huntman's heart because he let Snow White live, and told him that he was now her "pet" and that if he didn't do everything she said, she would crush that heart and kill him. After demonstrating that she could do exactly that, she ordered her guards to take him to her bedchamber.

In Storybrooke, Regina and Graham continue sleeping together, but because Graham's memories have been erased by the spell, he doesn't remember why. When he starts getting flashes of memory back (though not enough to remember exactly why he doesn't feel anything for her) and breaks up with Regina, she follows through on her threat from Fairy Tale land and kills him.

I keep hoping she won't be completely redeemed. I like her best as a very selfish person who just wants some love but on her terms. From that PoV, even letting Henry go with Charming still serves her ends. She knows from her own experience that holding him tightly will make him hate her, and that's the opposite of what she wants, so she is trying another tactic, rather than one that's been absolutely proven to fail.
