You actually had to mention fans in a completely different fandom, of a character who has been a lightning rod for wank, to make your point, OP? You should get a doctor to check out that butthurt of yours, OP. Or maybe buy a box of tissues. Some fans gloss over the terrible actions of villainous characters, yes. That's been a part of fandom for decades. It's no different than those fans who are so quick to ignore the dickish behaviour of heroic characters, just because they like the heroes.

Fans are biased towards and against certain characters. The fact that you felt the need to single out two specific groups of fans, and let their actions influence how you enjoy something, speaks more to your own insecurity than anything else. If you're not able to enjoy something because other people enjoy something different, then the problem is with you, not them. Ignore them and find fans who share your views. There are bound to be some. You'll have a better time with like fans.

You know what's funny? There are so many secrets bitching about Loki and Loki's fanbase, yet I can't recall the last time I saw a secret posted that bitched about the anti-Loki fans/fanbase.

"the problem is with you, not them. Ignore them and find fans who share your views"

this is like the worst advice ever, in any fandom. the whole fandom is terrible! everyone has hivemind! shit is bad! but hey that's just the fandom, let's not address these problems and all the people who are upset/feel left out/uncomfortable/whatever should go hide somewhere else.

You sound a lot more butthurt, tbh.

Loki fan, I take it?

Pretty much. Call me crazy, but I don't think this type of thing is the worst thing ever to happen in fandom? Plus, a lot of people mistake "finding a character sympathetic" with "woobiefication". Just because I'm not always putting up a disclaimer saying that I know the character is a bad person does not mean I don't get them. I feel like the whole "I see them as a real villain" is another way for people to try and act like they're more intelligent fans who do fandom proeperly, just like the anti-Mary Sue thing.
