Actually, I think it would make things more complicated. If you mediate between two friends and have a crush on one of them then you can still date them if you want. If you were auspiticizing between two friends and had a crush on one of them you'd have to keep it to yourself because you can't be in more than one quadrant with a person.

Also, if you're a friend who helps keep another friend under control, no one would blame you if they did something awful because their actions aren't your responsibility. If you were a moirail, then people would be more likely to blame you for not doing a good enough job.

Tacking romance onto any relationship automatically makes things more difficult; putting them onto relationships you could already have without the label is just making things unnecessarily complicated.
