(Anonymous) 2012-10-18 02:15 am (UTC)(link)Like...do they seem genuinely interested in what you have to say? Are they holding your gaze for a longer period of time than you typically experience? Are they leaning into you or standing/sitting close to you? If your answer is "yes" to at least two out of three of these questions, then it's a fair bet that holding hands or giving a hug is acceptable.
In your case, is it wrong that you didn't hug him? Not at all! It's all about what you feel comfortable with. If you go on a second date, however, I'd definitely suggest that you hug him (if nothing else) to at least demonstrate continuing interest.
