If it's not a serious subject to you, that's good for you. It means you've never known what it's like to be bullied, and that truly must be a great feeling.

However, it's serious to me. So don't you dare sit there and belittle my past, just because you've never experienced the things I have.

I've been bullied for being fat too, but it's a video game. Trust me when I say that I don't treat people in real life the way I do video game characters (I would almost certainly be in jail if that was the case). If OP had said "There is this guy who I refused to talk to because he was a fatty, but then he lost a lot of weight and I was all over him" THEN I could see making a big deal out of it...

Seriously though, the main reason I hate most fat Beat'em up characters is because they are so. damn. slow. I prefer speed over strength in the characters I play. Doesn't have anything to do with my attitude towards fat people in real life. (I should know, I'm quite fat myself but far from slow.)

Whether or not I'm overreacting is a matter of experience and opinion, so that's fair enough. However, what I reacted to wasn't the secret -- it was the "You know, it's not that serious. Really. It's not that serious." comment.

Doesn't matter if it's this subject or another, or even if it had been said to someone else. I just find it extremely respectless and belittling to make a statement like that; as if it's a fact. Had s/he said "I don't think it's that serious." (i.e. her/his opinion) I wouldn't even have responded.

Please. It's a secret about how someone doesn't like playing as a video game character because they think that character is ugly. While it may vaguely have its roots in a society that abhors fatness, OP's tendency has zero to do with people bullying you as a child. You're projecting harder than laser lights at Epcot Center.

Every time there's a secret about something like this, someone has to swoop in on a jungle vine because THIS SECRET IS ABOUT THEM NOW.

It's a fighting game character, not remotely comparable to a real person being bullied with no regard for their inner self or feelings (which they have because they're not a video game character)
