Laptops are rarely good for a lot of intense gaming, especially if any part of your guts fits the description "crappy."

A desktop would be better in general, yeah, but my games aren't Skyrim-level demanding, just circa 2011-early-2012 stuff that I haven't been able to play because my current desktop makes even a budget laptop look like Alienware.

Are you set on a laptop? And do you need it now?

You can build a gaming PC that can handle Borderlands 2 for around $500 (http://www.gamersnexus.net/pc-builds/46-pcbuildupg/932-borderlands-pc-build).*

www.gamersnexus.net has really friendly staff and forum members and helped me build my own computer for the first time too. I highly recommend them if you're thinking of trying it out.

*Their builds usually reference newegg combo deals which are very transient but if you're patient, you should be able to find similar deals.
