My current (for another couple of weeks, until the new one I just bought arrives) laptop is a Dell. I do not recommend Dell laptops. I have had so many hardware issues with this thing, from a faulty power jack preventing my battery from charging, to the hinge breaking so I can't close the computer, to the hard drive randomly becoming unseated. Maybe Dell has figured out how to make better laptops in the couple of years since I got mine, but be careful; you can't play games (or do much of anything) if your computer can't locate its own ass long enough to turn on. I'd err on the side of reliability and decent innards over super graphics, if it were me.

Oh, yeah, I worried about that. The other laptop is a Samsung, which seems to have a more consistent laptop rep than Dell. (Though neither is as good as Lenovo). Thanks for the warning.

Pretty much this. I only recommend Dell if you're also buying an extended warrently (the full coverage one) and are experienced (or are ok with becoming experienced) with their tech support.

I continue to buy them because my laptop tends to be in high humidity conditions and I've had at least 5 hdd crashes in the last 3 years all of which were replaced for free by Dell. Didn't even need to send a technician for the last 2. Just shipped me the hdd directly. Only 2 days of downtime.
