Which in my world means (My world is weird...) He's playing a Dick when ever He's Wil Wheaton internet/movie/tv/whatever celebrity, but when he's Wil Wheaton at home in PJ's eating fruit loops he's not.

I have however totally noticed that the person who quotes "Don't be a dick" during wank is invariably being a dick. Especially if they feel compelled to point out who they're quoting.

I used to follow his Twitter and Tumblr etc and I just got sick of his attitude. He mocks and bullies and makes fun of everyone and tries to play it off as humor. He's posted a lot of sexist stuff and tries to play it off as humor.

Maybe it's a case of my sense of humor not being the same, but I just got really sick of him and he really seems like a huge dick to me. Which is why I stopped following him. But I don't think he's any better than some of the people he calls out. Which is annoying because he can be genuinely awesome and caring at times, I just think the rest of the time he's an ass.

Pretty sure everyone's going to just defend him and call me a cold hearted bitch with no sense of humor, which is why this is a 'secret'.

Funny. I primarily know of him via twitter and tumblr and I still am not seeing the "dick" you're talking about. Sure as hell not seeing sexism and mocking and bullying. In fact, I see a lot of the very opposite. I'm sure he's no saint, but I think WW is a pretty good example of how to use social internet as a positive mouthpiece. *shrug*

not defending his style of humor or anything, but check out his tumblr. he posts some really good stuff there that, imo, shows who he really is and that person is actually pretty cool. flawed, sure, but he tries.

If Will Wheaton is a dick it's because the ST fandom made him one by booing, hissing and spitting on him during his formative years, because the writers had no clue how to write a kid who wasn't annoying.

On the bright side, his ST:TNG episode reviews are one of the most hysterically funny blogs I've ever read ever. So it's a wash for me.

Is anyone else sort of disappointed?

I rushed to the comments expecting some righteous gossip along the lines of, "I saw Wil Wheaton kill a homeless man with his bare hands" or "Wil Wheaton knocked up my cousin at ComicCon and now he won't return her calls". Instead, all we get is "I think Wil Wheaton is a dick because of all my unsubstantiated feels"?

Celebrity hatin' isn't as exciting as it used to be. :(

I know someone whose son was a child actor around the same time as WW, and their families were acquainted and the kids ended up at the same auditions a lot, etc., and this person only had nice things to say about WW and his mom. They were "normal" and "decent" while people like the Coreys and their families were "out of control" and "rude."

Whenever I think WW is getting a little full of himself, or I feel like his friendship with Hardwick is a black mark on his record, I remind myself of what this person told me and then I look at that awesome picture of WW in his Batman-logo acid-washed geek explosion and I like him again. I can't help it. He's got that genuine sweet smile that is rare in the semi-famous.

I love you. He's a massive dick. He's not evil, but he's . . . a dick. And yes, it's really really fucking annoying that he has the whole 'don't be a dick' thing when it is about the only word that properly describes him. And making a fucking law about not being a dick is the most dickish thing, and even if it was meant in irony, it's still wank.

I followed his blog, his tumblr and his twitter for a while, years ago admittedly, and I thought he was really nice for about a month until all his slight dickishnesses added up and now I just can't stand him. And that's fair enough, but nobody will ever talk about how much of a dick he is.

I don't really want to get into the whole being called for proper examples of his terribleness, because like I said, I don't think he's actually evil, but he was awful about Hillary's campaign during the election, followed by a mountain of nice guy syndrome, he wasn't being sexist, he was just attacking a woman based on belittling her gender, but he doesn't really see gender la la la where is your sense of humour????? He was weird about bullying when someone accused him of being awful to him when they were children, he could never have done anything terrible because he is wil wheaton, that was basically his response. He made a law of 'don't be a dick' for fuck's sake. He has that whole thing where he doesn't really think the privilege of being popular and worshipped applies to him because he remembers not being popular? Which is just a thing nearly all famous geek men have, and I'm not saying it's not easy to have that, or that he's the worst, but it makes my skin itch.
