Aw, OP, I think anyone would feel good if their first OTP got together. Especially if they had to wait so long for it to happen.

Out of curiosity, though, what happened to Seven? (Super sekrit Doctor/Seven shipper (also thwarted))

She married Chakotay. Forever disappointed. *sigh*

[personal profile] atgdng 2012-10-19 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I know she did, but OP seems to be saying they broke up (since Janeway and Chakotay hooked up, I guess?) I'm hoping they didn't murder Seven to make it happen.

How did he get together with Janeway in this book, then? I shipped Janeway/Chakotay, but I liked Seven and wouldn't want to see her killed off.

Haven't read this book yet, but in the first books following the series Seven and Chakotay broke up almost as soon as they got back to Earth. She got a job Earthside and he became captain of Voyager and they acknowledged that while they may have stayed together if they'd stayed on Voyager in the Delta Quadrant, in their current life/timeline they weren't meant to be.

I was always a J/C shipper, but I was sad about the Doctor and 7. He was so awesome and...they were really quite perfect for each other.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-22 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I have never gotten over my disappointment in Seven/Doc not becoming canon. All that build-up and then wham no you can go make out with a dude you've hardly ever spoken to before now.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-20 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
Aw, OP! I mocked the book to hell and back on Twitter because, as you said, it's really not great literature. Or even decent. But it was still worth the eight bucks because OH MY GOD JANEWAY/CHAKOTAY AT LONG LAST \o/

(Anonymous) 2012-10-20 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
That's about how I felt LOL. I think I read only the J/C parts. Is that pathetic? Maybe...but truuuueee. :D

I do ;)

I feel like I'm the only person in the fandom who doesn't ship them. I tried. I really did try to like the idea of them together after he no longer works for her. But for some reason the ship does nothing for me. I prefer Janeway being awesome on her own.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-20 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
You're definitely not the only one, but J/C is very popular. I love KJ on her own as well, but I loved her chemistry with Beltran. :) I'm afraid if I admit the other person I like her with, I may out myself LOL

Maybe I'll go play a bit of Mahler's first symphony...

Me too! I like Chakotay too but their relationship more so when they're just really good friends.

Also, I work scifi cons and all the negative Beltran stories really ruin him for me.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-20 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
I am with you, anon!!

I was 13 when the show started, they were one of my first ships, and almost two decades later, I DID cry when they were reunited in that dumb book.

Finally all was right in the world.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-20 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm so happy I'm not weird LOL.

Well I am. But at least there are others ^^

(Anonymous) 2012-10-20 10:16 am (UTC)(link)
Much love for this secret, anon. The Eternal Tide came out on my birthday, and honestly, it felt like it was my 13th birthday all over again instead of my 31st.

You're very lucky to have such a fantastic and supportive husband.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-20 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Much love for much love LOL. I'm glad someone else gets it.

And yes, I have a supportive husband, even if he doesn't really *get* it LOL.

So so bad

(Anonymous) 2012-10-20 11:38 am (UTC)(link)
Are the Voy books as bad as the TNG ones?

Because the same thing sort of happened with Picard/Crusher - they finally get together in the novels. I spent basically my entire formative years desperate for them to work out and then furious at the films which ignored Crusher entirely. So I should have been euphoric when they finally got together in the books.

But the post-Nem novels are so so so so so so so so so so so so terrible that I can't bear them. They're like bad fanfic, but fanfic by people who aren't even really feeling the ship so they aren't even in earnest. It's complete tripe, and now I'd nearly rather they'd left them alone.

But then, the end-game for P/C in canon was less anti-shipper than the J/C ending to begin with.

Re: So so bad

(Anonymous) 2012-10-20 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
No, on the whole they're much, much better. I put that down to consistency of authors: Christie Golden wrote the first four (Homecoming, The Farther Shore, Old Wounds and Enemy of My Enemy), and while they're not as good as the later ones, they're still worth reading for the set-up.

Kirsten Beyer is the author of the later novels, and her affection for this series and the characters shines through on every page. Don't get me wrong - they're not the greatest works of literature ever (bar Children of the Storm, which is a fantastic sci-fi novel in its own right), but the handling of the characters deserves plaudits. Not sure where the story is going to go post-Eternal Tide, but J/C and all the rest seem pretty safe in her hands.

That is such a lovely photo! They both look so genuinely happy and gorgeous. Aaaw..

AAAAAAAAAAA!!! They get together!!!! XDXDXDXDXDXDXD

(Can you tell what my favourite Voyager ship was? XD)

This secret has just made me INSANELY happy! XDXDXDXDXDXDXD EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

(God damn it, I need different icons!)

(Anonymous) 2012-10-22 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I was never a huge shipper of J/C but I did like it. It's nice that they finally got a happy ending. Anything to undo the mess that was 7/C.
