I think that sort of music gets looked down at because it relies on feelings, maybe more than on virtuosity - though I can't judge on their virtuosity, I'm not a musician. I'm pretty sure that they are at least apt if they manage to convey and create something that has this effect.

But people like different musics for different reasons, and "this music makes me feel that way" doesn't seem a less valid reason to me than "woah, Mr McVirtuosis plays 5362 notes per second on his guitar!".

I wish I could have my anti-music snob icon on Dreamwidth...
