I think it depends more on the fandom than the person's age. For example, I'd get older fans who are into fandoms that are aimed for almost everyone, like Star Wars or Harry Potter or A:TLA, but I'd side-eye older fans who are into very specific age media like iCarly and Hannah Montana and the likes.

To be fair, my husband and I watch iCarly because we have a daughter that does and we refuse to let her have a tv in her room. It's funny to adults, too! (Although, I'll admit I did feel dirty the one time I read iCarly fic, even thought it was based around Spencer and he's closer to my age.)

My daughter watches iCarly too and I found myself seeing subtext between Sam and Spencer (and kind of mildly shipping them) that the show probably NEVER intended - but seeing as it's a kids' show, I'd be squicked by any kind of smut fic.

People like what they like and I don't think there's anything wrong with adults liking 'kid' stuff. But I do think if you're gonna be in fandom for it you should acknowledge that it wasn't made for your demographic and if you must make porn, be discreet about it.

It's fandom who's going to know your age unless you tell them?

That'll work great, as long as you strictly limit what personal details you share. So, no mentioning if you have a spouse or kids or how long it was since you were in college, no talking about toys, games, movies, etc. you liked when you were a kid in case it dates you, no mentioning of how many years you've been in XYZ fandom, etc. etc.

Not everyone wants to self-censor like that, though.
