Funny, I just read an article on Cracked today that said musical tastes tend to solidify during adolescence. I didn't go digging to check their sources, but I think it's an interesting idea. It could explain your enduring appreciation of the band beyond simple nostalgia - or alternately, it's possible that despite what your music hipster friends might say, Evanescence does a really good job of wringing emotions out of their music even if they don't do it in the most ~artful and meaningful~ way!

Sometimes you just have to indulge.

This would make sense to me because while I have picked up new bands in adulthood, I really feel like my music taste formed in my early teenaged years (for some of it even as early as 5th grade.)

There are albums I will still pick up and listen to. But it's not like my favorite musicians were teenagers, for the most part they were adult musicians who were passionate about what they were doing so I don't see the problem with me liking them as an adult (especially since some of it went over my head as a kid anyway.)
