Whenever people act like age is a problem for being a fan I like to bring up the entertainment industry. Working in the entertainment industry (film, comics, animation etc) often makes being a fan your job. Yeah you don't have the time to be as heavily involved as other fans, but just go look around major artist's portfolio's sometimes and see how many of them draw fanart.

And go to an animation studio or a game studio and see how many of them have toys all around their desk.

Passion for what you love does not die at a certain age, it just evolves and changes.
