Re: Things that make you immediately stop reading a fanfiction

OOC is the number one thing. I can tolerate bad grammar and stupid plottage and getting canon details wrong. Even "portraying screwed up behavior as romantic" (very common in my favorite pairing for some reason) can hold my attention sometimes, in a train-wreck kind of way. But I can't stand OOC.

Also, when there's a pairing that would be socially unacceptable in canon (older/younger, hero/villain, etc) and they get together in the fic without any mention of how they work around these issues and what other people will think.
