Um, okay? Did I say she wasn't? OP's of the opinion that a biracial person can only be identified with by POCs. That makes no sense.

There is a sentiment that the term "POC" is another form of othering. Using POC/WOC kind of clumps all non white races into a big group. It's saying that there is no difference between an Asian person and a Black person.

but...the op of this thread never even used the term POC. I'm confused.

*scrolls up* ahhhh, I see. They were probably just baiting with the "she's a person" comment *shrug*.

The OP used POC. Notice that I, the original anon, did not. It's not a term I'm a fan of.

No terminology is PC enough save you from the bite of a fandom SJW on the prowl for fresh meat.

"It's not BLACK, it's Person of Colour!"

"It's not Person of Colour, it's person!"

Dear dear...

I'm sorry.

I'm sorry I didn't mean to imply that you did. I should have been more clear I was simply adding to your statement.

However I do loath the term POC. To me it completely erases identity, and individuality.

Goddammit. As a non-US very brown person, I am so damned frustrated by all the damned terminology hoops I have to jump through to talk about something with you people. Non-white is not good because it defines you by what you're not instead of what you are, POC is not good because it lumps all the non-caucasians together, referring by actual color is too indefinite, hyphenate terms are 'overdone'. Fuck you all up the ass, I am sick of having to learn a whole new language every three months just to be able to describe my side of the not-white story so that you will even consider listening to it.

I'm a north american very brown person, and I feel the same way. >_<

Is there a reason you think the average American doesn't also have to learn a new vocabulary every three months? It's not like I'm advocating for people to constantly change their definitions of themselves nor is it true that its all whites changing terminology all the time. Call yourself whatever the hell you want.

I just happen to find POC a dumb term because, like many racial terms, it doesn't take into account the broad range of skin colors associated with each race and it makes a white/everyone else divide that is as negative towards whites as it is to everyone else, as shown by the OP.

Not to mention that there are a bunch of East Asians who are whiter than most "white" people have ever dreamed/had nightmares of being.
