Or actresses (because it's mostly actresses) who had to go through very strict diets to look as good as they do?

Yeah, I wonder if the OP doesn't find thin female characters attractive for the same reason?

Not OP, but I hate, hate, hate when actresses are told they need to slim down or get plastic surgery to get parts. C'mon, most women in tv these days are 5'8 brunettes who are size 0-2s. That's just NOT healthy. I'm lookin' at you, Anne Hathaway.

Well, I think it's more of an expectation that you'll be slender and stay that way throughout your career, not that you'll "slim down" for a particular part.

I've never been told to change my body for a part, but I understand implicitly that if I didn't have a flat stomach and sharp jaw I would be out of work.
