...So basically your headcanon was debunked and you were pissed about that.

Orrrrrr they could have been pissed because a show or comic or something they really liked became shitty or came up with dumb plots and made the characters OOC? It's happened to lots of long-running series and it's not exactly pleasant, you know.

I have honestly seen that so rarely, that I don't believe it. Especially given some of the fandoms listed. A lot of it ends up being, "BAAAAWWWW, WHY AREN'T THEY THE WOOBIE I THOUGHT THEY WERE?!"

...seriously? Then you're really, really, really, really lucky. A lot of good shows I've been invested in winds up running too long and becoming really just...crappily written and boring with dumb plots and characterization that makes no sense and shoehorned drama that winds up ruining the characters' likability and makes it difficult to find logic in the characters or story, and in some cases ruins the ability to suspend disbelief properly.

Not sure what you're referring to by "Bawww not a woobie." You mean those batshit fans who think a villain is secretly a good guy and then get pissed when they're actually evil? Er...no. Being disappointed with bad writing is definitely not a reaction that is restricted to those nutjobs.

What awesome shows do you watch that you've really never had this experience?

well, as a writer who would love to write in fandoms as the episodes are airing but getting tired of having fics jossed, it's not so much pissed that headcanon was debunked but disappointed that this fic I have put a lot of time into doesn't slot into canon.

I did that with one series and to this day reading my fic and how horribly I was jossed makes me ill.

:/

Then spin it as an AU. It's not that hard. :/ I've had my fics jossed, you know what? I kept writing. Because who cared, it's now an AU! You sound like one of those people who whines when your ship isn't made canon because, oh noes, it doesn't slot into canon!

nayrt

The thing is, not everyone reads your fic. Everyone is talking about the characters and plots that occurred in *canon*, and when you hate the choices made in canon, it's hard to enjoy the fandom even if you really want to because you really loved it before the jossing occurred. It's really not all about ships. Seriously.
