Seriously. I want 10 million Iron Man movies so I can just keep staring a RDJ as an awesome Stark.

Eh.

On one hand, I seriously dislike Extremis, especially (theoretically, that is) for the movieverse, and am gritting my teeth for stupidity and racefail all over the place with the Mandarin and all the stuff in China.

On the other hand, Shane Black. And the cast.

So I'm kinda torn.

I love Extremis so I wonder what do you not like it?

Short version: I really, really hate non-powered superheroes getting powers. Like, can't even describe how much I despise it. It totally undermines so much that is important about the character. It's okay if the character is a character who no one cares about and has no potential, as a way to reinvent them, but for a character who is already awesome and full of potential? Nonononono. It just swings them artificially in a totally new direction and trivializes their origin story and character arc so far. It's like Batman getting magical bat-powers that let him fly and see in the dark and grow sharp claws and teeth. Okay, okay, not nearly *that* bad, but comparable.

I don't mind it THAT much in the comics because...they're the comics. The characters have been going on unagingly for fifty-plus years and these kinds of shake ups and massive changes happen to every character all the time multiple times. But in a condensed, real-time story like the movie franchise? Sorry, no.

Agreed. I'm excited for the new solo movies, especially Winter Soldier. And Iron Man 3 has Shane Black as director, what's not to love?
