I hope you don't mind this - please ignore it if it was just a typo - but it's actually closure, not closer.

Also, I totally agree with what you said about strong women being pitted against each other (or any women, for that matter). Why do we have to compare? Do people sit around bitching whether Nick Fury and Agent Coulson sound more jealous/clingy in their conversations? It's obnoxious.

Also, Pepper and 90-year-old Peggy teaming up? New headcanon. I'm calling it Operation Peppy.

Mmm, yeah, typo. I'm actually an English major for all I look like I can't string a full sentence together. I just have a problem with seeing typos and stuff on the computer screen.

Anybody else have that? Can't catch it on the screen but the moment you print something out you're thinking, "How did I miss that?"

But really, thank you for pointing it out to me.

Ah, exactly. There was an article talking about it a few weeks ago. If I recall correctly the writer was saying they had seen someone compare Samus from the Metroid series and Ripley from the Alien series. Then it went in depth about how this was wrong because it fed into the thought that there could only be one good female character for any given thing. It also spoke about this being different from critiquing the character, which was perfectly fine.

One thing it didn't touch upon but I wish it had was how these female characters are compared and then vilified/idolized is different from conversations about male characters in "VS." threads. I have my own reasons for thinking they're different. However, I rarely see this brought up in such discussions.

Awesome. We can share a head canon now. Since it's called Operation Peppy all I can think of is how they have to cheer everyone up. Which makes me think of the episode of Star Trek TOS where there was mind control to make everyone happy so you seriously had to piss someone off in order to break the mind control. Maybe their mission is the reverse. Everyone is under mind control and pissed off to the point there are riots, superheroes running amok, etc. So they have to figure out how to make people happy in order to break the mind control. That would be cool and funny.
