Yeah, me too. I'm into quite a few things that don't have an active fandom, and I don't mind squeeing into a vacuum, but I keep my fic on my hard drive. I realise this makes me part of the problem, but- yeah.

I've had similar issues where something I love becomes completely unenjoyable due to something in my own life. Like, for instance, I was listening to a Kate Nash CD when I totaled my first car. I have been unable to listen to her ever since. Or like when my best friend "broke up" with me while one of my favorite movies was on television. MOVIE RUINED FOREVER. Of course, in your case what happened was actually related to the fandom that has been "ruined" for you. Just know that it happens to everyone. Unpleasant things create associations that sometimes can't ever be overcome.

BUT! There is every chance that you WILL overcome it, with time. And at no point has it been so long that you can be sure you won't feel differently tomorrow.

I assume it's because crime fandoms, unless there's some hint of a white m/m relationship, tend to be smaller than, say, most fantasy/sci-fi fandoms. I'm a part of small, not-really-slashy crime fandoms and trust me, it's frustrating.

But this sounds like something I may get into. I stupidly didn't give this show a chance because of the TV Guide cover fallout, but I'd be willing to give this show a shot after I catch up with the two other shows I haven't actually bothered to catch up with yet.
