How's that reading comprehension? OP stopped publishing, they didn't say they stopped writing. It sounds like 'writing it just for you' is exactly what they were doing. Feeling self-conscious about the absence of feedback isn't the same as being a filthy kudos whore.

When did he call them a filthy kudos whore? Didn't you just say the exact same thing he did?

(Anonymous) 2012-10-23 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I read it as sarcastic. Because fandom lore states that you're supposed to write for yourself and not for the attention, therefore you shouldn't care whether or not you get feedback, therefore if you stop posting due to lack of feedback then you probably weren't writing 'for yourself' after all. Might not have been weirdnoodleboy's intention, but that was how it came across.

Oh. I read it as him suggesting that the reason OP didn't like publishing was because they were writing for themselves. /shrug.

Are you okay, anon? You seem to be suffering from a case of Misguided Inflammatory Troll Disease. It's not a particularity harmful disease (and, in fact, it can be damn well hilarious if channelled properly), but I think you may want get checked out just in case. With proper diagnosis maybe you can work on being better.

Troll better, anon! *hugs*

Exactly.

One thing I really get annoyed with is the idea that fanfic writers aren't supposed to care whether or not they get reviews - of course we do. I bet even a lot of the people who make fun of us for caring care themselves.

Pretty sure Insanenoodleguy would be bitterly disappointed if everybody here ignored him.

Not following your logic. I don't recall him ever claiming he had no desire to interact with people here and was just commenting for himself.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-24 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
I don't recall the writer claiming that they had no desire for recognition, or that they were only writing for themselves, either. I'm always annoyed by people who chide writers for wanting their work to be read on the ground that unless you're writing purely for yourself, your creativity isn't pure enough or some shit like that. But it's particularly ironic coming from an attention-greedy troll.

On reread of the secret... my bad. My context was borked.

And for the record I absolutely don't think there's anything wrong with a writer wanting feedback/recognition. I don't really get why people would post if they didn't want some kind of reaction/interaction.
