Sometimes I want to make secrets but I feel they'll be obvious and are kind of mean spirited so I don't because I feel preemptively guilty. I go through this like once a week, where I get all frustrated and annoyed and want to vent via F!S but then feel guilty etc etc etc

So... your problem is that you're a reasonable person who doesn't want to cause trouble / stir shit up / be mean-spirited?

I wouldn't be too concerned about that.

One idea:

Go ahead and make the secrets, but wait until the next submission post goes up before sending any of them. That way you can get things out of your system when you need to vent frustration, but you're giving yourself time to cool down and look at the situation more rationally before deciding whether it's actually worth sharing with the comm.

i do this as well...if i know i have submitted something that week, when a new post comes up i scroll the page to see if my secret is there...if it's not, i continue to read and participate a bit

but if my secret IS there, i close the page and i don't return for a week...that way i'm not tempted to reply to current comments in a reactionary way...i end up reading the comments days later, and getting the full range of comments on my secret, not just the first one that popped up that i reacted to...does that make sense? unless you're trolling, i've found that there's always someone who replies and agrees with you

though i think i prefer what another anon suggested...make the secret, but don't post it until next submission
