Re: Do you associate songs with the scene or vid you first heard them in?

(Anonymous) 2012-10-24 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Ohhhh, yes. Fanvids are the primary way I find new music. I have purchased... I think six albums because of fanvid-related discoveries, and many more individual songs.

I still associate Nightwish's "The Kinslayer" with "The Big Game"/"Revelations", which is especially impressive as I think that particular vid is no longer available. Mumford & Son's "The Cave" is tied to White Collar. Unkle's "Broken" is tied to the Winchesters, and Arcade Fire's "Windowsill" is Sam Winchester. "The Trouble With Poets" is Methos and Duncan (I don't even remember the artist, it's the only thing by him I own). "Fields of Innocence" from Evanescence's first album is Drusilla. "Peacekeeper" is Aeryn Sun, "Fly From the Inside" is John Crichton. There are more I can't think of just yet...

Ooh, Windowsill! Yes, I'll never hear that song without thinking of Sam Winchester.

So er...sometimes, yes. Not always, but usually.
