you could just..............not leave kudos............until the end.............

i think that having a downvote/dislike/whatever the fuck button on a fic would probably only increase the disparity between widely read authors and lesser known authors. plus, way the fuck more tedious drama. plus people who aren't particularly confident about their work (whether or not it's justified) might stop contributing (at least on that platform) and for the tinier fandoms, that would be a fucking travesty. if ao3 implemented something like that, i would predict a shift back to posting on lj or the rise of a new site.

if you don't like a fic, leave some constructive criticism. this isn't reddit where the op put three seconds of work into finding a picture from the internet--these writers have probably spent hours of their time and effort on these fics.

orrrrrrrr if you don't like a fic, stop fucking reading. seriously. don't waste any more of your time and look for another fic. or write the fic you want to read. writers aren't obligated to cater to your every interest, just as the potential audience isn't obligated to read or comment.

I totally agree with this. Fandom is rife with drama as it is. The point of kudos was originally as a default "I read this and didn't hate it so thanks for providing me with the entertainment" sentiment for those who of us who are too shy or lazy to leave a comment.

Now people are getting neurotic about kudos themselves as if they mean anything a BARE SEDIMENTARY CREASE above a hit count.

Jesus Christ, stop trying to make shit more full of dramu and wank, and learn better methods to find the shit YOU'LL like, instead of getting all pissy when the internet doesn't do it for you.
