Something that worked for me: you could start by picking one word, and using it. Everybody has verbal quirks, so most people will let it pass. Once our friends are so used to it they no longer notice it, add another. And another.

It worked for me, my non-English-speaking friends don't find the random English words I pepper the conversation with strange. They've even started using some of them.

(And if the meaning is not clear, you can repeat the equivalent in English after the word. I trained my parents to respond to simple fangirl!japanese using this method when I was younger.)
