Omg this. I know German and Russian more or less fluently, so whenever some generic villains speak mangled deutsch or russky it just makes me cringe. A voiceover would have been so much better!

Of course, for people who don't speak the foreign languages that are used in a particular film, it's all the same. But generally popular films tend to be shown all over the world, so why can't Hollywood bosses think of the foreign audiences who point and laugh at supposedly 'perfect' language knowledge of the film characters...

This so much! In True Blood, when Eric and Godric were posing as Nazis in that flashback i was facepalming so heavy it's not even funny anymore! Does someone know how the (old?) swedish was? I know the actor for Eric is swedish, so he should get it right at least with the modern language, but i have no idea what they were actually speaking there, old or modern...
