God it's so dumb what women have to go through to fit in at work.

No hate OP, I go through similar things with trying to fit in the boys club of my male dominated industry. I hate it.

On the flip side, I work in an extremely female -dominated workplace where I get crap for spending my free time being a nerd (and, to a greater extent, for being nearly 30 and unmarried and without kids) .

As I have no idea where deadtree is located in the world, I'll use where I live as an example. I know of many workplaces which are female dominated: nursing, primary school, office worker (like secretary & accounts payable), most retail centres & department stores where the focus is not electrical/major appliance, beauty/nail/hair salons, pharmacies, and front of house for most restaurants, regardless of formal dining, cafe or fast food. Even my local library is a female dominated workspace.

And only women give you crap for being an unmarried nerd?
I usually get that from both genders at work. I'm an Elementary School teacher.

Pretty sure it's jealousy on their part because I can spend my free time doing fun stuff while they have to tend to kids 24/7. It shows they don't really enjoy hearing what things I did on the weekend when all they could do was sitting at home and watching TV while correcting their own children's homework *g*
