Except all the Star Trek shows have made mention of the fact that--to other species--humans are aliens. It's usually done in a way meant to make the audience go OMG MIND = BLOWN, but it still happens.

There's a TNG episode where Riker is the alien who's almost autopsied. Star Trek is an Earth centred show, but they definitely point out that humans are just as alien. There's just many humans, and they're an outgoing culture (also budget)

Farscape is great for having the one human character be absolutely alien to the galaxy he's in.

I remember that one. :) That was the one were there was a nurse/doctor who wanted to bang him because HOT ALIEN LOVIN', but there was also a fair bit of exploration of cultures and the pre-warp civilization. I liked it a lot.

AYRT

I can buy the Hot alien lovin' angle. I imagine some Earth folks behaving similarly. The alien scientist who decides to stay is a favourite character of mine. Just adored her.

That actually squicked me on the re-watch, since she was basically raping him by saying "yeah ok, I'll help you escape from the government and return to your ship, but only if I get to bang you first." Like...wow, that would NOT have been done if it were Crusher who was trying to escape from the lab instead of Riker, and a male alien lab technician wanted to bang her. That's all I'm saying'. :\

Part of me is kinda pleased they went for male rape by coersion because it's so rare. I know there's no real fallout, and it's played as funny, And then not dealt with, but watching TNG as an adult i'm really surprised by the frequency of male assault and how it's sometimes dealt with well.

There's The High Ground, where the terrorist holding Beverly bascially offers to save Picard if she...

I read an awesome fic where Will and Deanna talked about this incident as rape and it was one of the moments where I just loved TNG fandom.

I fucking loved that episode so much. Although, seriously Federation? The Vulcans had this great big majestic srs bsns awe-inspiring meeting with Zephram Cochrane back in 2063 when they made first contact with humans, but for that species, Picard and Troi just randomly show up in a research center and go "hi lol we're aliens. Congrads on discovering the warp drive, btw!"
