Aliens = life-forms from elsewhere. It's not "earthist" or whatever, it's a technical term. Humans come from Earth, aliens come from not-Earth.

Add specifics and peculiarities to fit the sci-fi verse of your choice.

Janeway/Kashyk is really hot. I particular love that she's the one who plays him. She wins. Yes, she enjoyed it, but she loves the ship more. Great episode for her character. I love it most for what it reveals about her, not her relationships.

I'm sorry for your disappointment, OP, but honestly, Kate Mulgrew isn't there to shore up your love for your ship - fic, art, and your fellow shippers should be doing that - and it shouldn't affect your love of J/7 because she shot it down. Actors aren't characters and their validation shouldn't be necessary for shipping enjoyment. It would be nice, not gonna lie, but if we had to rely on them, a lot of us would be horribly disappointed.

No offense to western comics fans, but YES your assumption is correct: cohesive stories, etc... basically, long term consistency and continuity is SADLY lacking. Do what I do: pick up the good stuff after that storyline is complete and ignore the rest.
