Also, their antagonists (Gus, Victoria) are more likable than they are.

Gus is Walt without the moral conflict. Like Walt at least feel some degree of remorse if he does something heinous, whereas Gus is more cold, clinical and sociopathic.

Kind of baffled that people think he's the "better" person (although both are pretty horrible people).

I don't know if I'd say it's "worse," but... I'd rather deal with someone who is sociopathic and completely without morals than someone who tries to justify what he does, while both of them do the same things.

Gus was trying to avenge his boyfriend's murder.

Gus did more than offing the cartel.

But could he have offed them if he hadn't risen to a position of power?

Then how come he didn't stop making meth after he killed them?

Hector was still alive.

Gus could have easily had him killed at any point. He kept him alive so he could taunt him and only moved to actually kill him when he thought Hector was going to the police.

There's nothing to suggest that once he had his revenge he would have retired or given himself in.

Yeah, sorry, anon, I don't buy for even a second that he would have stopped after Hector's death. Remember that: 1) Max died because they were trying to get into the meth business, 2) Gus was talking to Lydia about expanding the empire into the Czech Republic, and 3) before he started with meth he had some kind of undisclosed position with the Pinochet government (high up enough to be referred to as a "generalissimo," and enough to make Don Eladio scared to kill him).

I absolutely love Gus, but none of these things point to a good guy who was only out for revenge for his boyfriend.

I also find Gus sympathetic, but please. Don't water him down. He was aiming for a position of power in the drug world long before they killed his boyfriend.

By that logic, Walt's just trying to support his family.

Except he could have taken the money but chose not to because of his pride.

And Gus didn't have to build a huge meth empire and have innocent people killed.

Could he have killed the cartel like he did if he wasn't in that position of power?

I'm sorry, Victoria is not likable. I was gonna write a whole spiel on why, but frankly lets cut to the chase:

SHE HAD AN INNOCENT CHILD LOCKED UP IN A BABY INSANE ASYLUM.

She did something horrible 20 years ago to protect her family, and I don't know even know how much she was responsible for that, and how much of it was the conspiracy's doing. And now she's trying to take them down.

Nope, sorry, still doesn't justify it or make her any less of a horrible person.

No, I think she's pretty responsible for that one.

So the big conspiracy would just let Amanda blab the truth to everyone?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Amanda still in single digits back then? What truth could she possibly have known? And wasn't there a period in time when she actually believed her father was guilty as well?

Honestly, if the conspiracy had wanted to keep her out of the way, they should have made sure she was immediately placed with a normal, loving family (under their thumb, of course, but they'd hardly advertise it, would they?)

The young Amanda saw Victoria stealing David's laptop to frame him.

At the time she still believed he was innocent.

She could have tried to help Amanda - which would have been the morally upstanding thing to do.

FFS we get it.
