Also, their antagonists (Gus, Victoria) are more likable than they are.

Gus is Walt without the moral conflict. Like Walt at least feel some degree of remorse if he does something heinous, whereas Gus is more cold, clinical and sociopathic.

Kind of baffled that people think he's the "better" person (although both are pretty horrible people).

DA

I don't know if I'd say it's "worse," but... I'd rather deal with someone who is sociopathic and completely without morals than someone who tries to justify what he does, while both of them do the same things.

Gus was trying to avenge his boyfriend's murder.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-28 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Gus did more than offing the cartel.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-28 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
But could he have offed them if he hadn't risen to a position of power?

(Anonymous) 2012-10-28 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Then how come he didn't stop making meth after he killed them?

(Anonymous) 2012-10-28 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Hector was still alive.

I also find Gus sympathetic, but please. Don't water him down. He was aiming for a position of power in the drug world long before they killed his boyfriend.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-28 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
By that logic, Walt's just trying to support his family.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-28 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Except he could have taken the money but chose not to because of his pride.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-28 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
And Gus didn't have to build a huge meth empire and have innocent people killed.

I'm sorry, Victoria is not likable. I was gonna write a whole spiel on why, but frankly lets cut to the chase:

SHE HAD AN INNOCENT CHILD LOCKED UP IN A BABY INSANE ASYLUM.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-28 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
She did something horrible 20 years ago to protect her family, and I don't know even know how much she was responsible for that, and how much of it was the conspiracy's doing. And now she's trying to take them down.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-28 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, sorry, still doesn't justify it or make her any less of a horrible person.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-29 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
No, I think she's pretty responsible for that one.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-29 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
So the big conspiracy would just let Amanda blab the truth to everyone?

(Anonymous) 2012-10-29 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
New anon (and one who doesn't watch the show)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Amanda still in single digits back then? What truth could she possibly have known? And wasn't there a period in time when she actually believed her father was guilty as well?

Honestly, if the conspiracy had wanted to keep her out of the way, they should have made sure she was immediately placed with a normal, loving family (under their thumb, of course, but they'd hardly advertise it, would they?)
Talk about creating your worst enemy!

She could have tried to help Amanda - which would have been the morally upstanding thing to do.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-28 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
FFS we get it.

You want to bang Gus.

WE KNOW.

I haven't watched Breaking Bad so I can't really comment there, but the latest episode of Revenge seems to me to be a major tipping point for how I'll see Emily going forward: I mean she reacted to [Major Spoiler Regarding Amanda] as if she truly did care about her and seriously regretted everything she'd put her through, which is good, but if she continues to drag her into all of her REVENGE!!! shenanigans after all this, it'll definitely look bad for her. She had a similar reaction when everything she did got Lydia thrown off a building, for instance, but it was kind of a different situation and she had no where near the same connection to her, so when she went back to REVENGE-ing it wasn't as bad.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-28 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds plausible to me. I'm curious about whether the show would deliberately go there...

(Anonymous) 2012-10-28 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I have this terrible problem where, despite the fact that I'm only about halfway through Breaking Bad at this point, I can't seem to stop myself from reading the comments to secrets that reference it. As a result, I keep spoiling the fuck out of myself.

It's kind of amusing, actually.

(Anonymous) 2012-10-29 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
I don't watch Breaking Bad, but REVENGE SECRET!!!

Emily's been going down a bit of a dark path lately and normally I'd expect Nolan to call jer on it, but they haven't been spending as much time together this season. Which makes me sad, to......
