I tend to let this stuff slide with the NC because from what I've seen of his OOC videos Doug is also pretty feminist so I figure it's part of the Critic's character. He's stated many a time that the Critic is supposed to be a pathetic loser more than anything else.

Then again it's still not very advisable because I doubt a lot of his viewers take it that way. :/

Yeah, it usually isn't such a big deal to me either. The exception was the "IT" review, because later on in the commentary Doug repeats himself and says he didn't get how sleeping with all the guys did anything for her/her character development and "haha, she was just a slut".

I confess, I haven't actually seen the IT review - I'm squeamish about horror stuff so I tend to skip over a lot of the halloween reviews. That does sound pretty nasty, though. :/

yeah, I get the feeling the NC was supposed to be at least partially the stereotypical nerdy dudebro asshole in the same way that the NChick is supposed to be a psuedo-fauxminist at times (though she tends to flip back and forth between that and actual feminist depending on what suits the review I guess? idk). I thought that came through pretty clearly in the joint reviews they do.

but the commenters on thatguy are overwhelmingly a bunch of sexist douchecanoes yeah

That's the impression I have of the NChick as well - especially in stuff like her Charlie's Angels review (that was the one with the 'burkas', right?).

Basically I get what he's going for with the NC but I think he should have considered that a lot of his viewers wouldn't get the joke. xD Probably because they kind of are that guy. >_>

The issue for me tends to be the reviewers where the line between performer and character is more blurred, because sometimes I really can't tell whether you're supposed to be laughing at or with them when they say shit like that. :(

Ugh, tell me about it -__- there's this one commenter in particular who almost all of the comments I've seen from them tends have this whole "feminism is eeeeeviiilll" vibe, and I just feel like giving them a verbal slap in the face. I also remember this one other commenter (who doesn't appear to be on the site anymore, haven't seen any comments from them in a while, thankfully)writing that they had no sympathy for people who have been in abusive relationships and gets back with their abuser, writing something along the lines of "if they're stupid enough to get back with their abuser, then they deserve it/don't deserve my sympathy"(I can't remember which video it was, but it was in regards to Chris Brown/Rhianna).
I just...I just wish that the producers would call out some of their commenters sometime, especially when they say sexist crap like that, actually point out and say "this is not OK". Is that too much to ask?
