This makes me sad, because I've found the exact opposite to be true. :( I'm not sure how that cesspool of a fandom could have sprung from a pretty decent movie.

Oh, I actually kinda liked the movie, but found that a lot of people in its fandom had major problems with it, and found the fandom to be shockingly lighthearted and fluffy (if totally insane) and easy-going. Maybe I was just in the wrong circles?

I have major issues with the movie but loved Charles and Erik to pieces and wanted them to run away together and spend their time putting flower chains in one another's hair, and most of the other members of that fandom I've encountered seem to have similar thoughts lol
