Man I am feeling like the dumbest person ever now. I've been so caught up in tumblr-esque ~feels~ that I completely missed how the end of JiM is the perfect FUCK YOU to the whole concept of Marvel Time.

Also remember - fic!Leah is a "FUCK YOU" to stagnant character-writing, ie the shittiness of never letting characters grow and change AND also a criticism of how shitty it is when female characters are used as one-dimensional plot devices!

Journey Into Mystery is just fucking awesome and fantastically meta, all around.

There's this cool essay about JiM and its audience and the Status Quo is God thing. And Gillen just confirmed today that he couldn't do anything else, and I was surprised by his (devastating) sincerity about how Marvel can be. (Warning to others: both links have spoilers of the Rosebud variety for JiM)

Thank you for the links! Gillen's explanation of the ending...well, it doesn't make it happy, but it does soften the blow a bit, knowing that Kid Loki is safe in one sense, at least.
