I'm so glad I watched the show without actually knowing anything about it aside from a gif of Mami (without context, so I thought it was all cool, fixable, and whatevs). This is exactly the real title.

As someone who hasn't seen the show, watching this was a confusing experience. Also, while eating oneself is disgusting (understatement of the year), this was not as gross as expected. Maybe the internet has finally ruined me.

Ah, I understand. Context is important. The name "Charlotte" can still strike fear in the people who have seen the show, but only if you can get the context.

The show itself is rather creepy, for a magical girl show, but it's not the creepiest either.

Very true, context is important. Now I'm intrigued...

Is the anime long? Because if it's something like 20 episodes (and easy to find) I might give it a shot. Probably not right now, but in the future.

Didn't he, at the end, get fed something by Homura? Like the new grief seeds or something?

(Also he was kinda cute, but in an unsettling "I'm gonna eat your soul" kind of way).

In a sense, that was what he does. If much less graphically than you had in mind.

You know, considering that Kyubey straight up ate himself at one point, this secret doesn't seem that outlandish.

I think Kyubey is adorable, but when I think about all of the elements involved in his design he gets...creepy. Like he's this hodgepodge of parts from traditionally cute animals, like a hybrid rabbit/cat, and the white/pink color scheme is supposed to be appealing and non-threatening, but that rabbit/cat thing is also kinda Frankenstein monster-y and the white-with-red eyes becomes more and more unsettling the longer you look at it...

And then there's the fact that in the series proper he's introduced with that immovable, super-cute expression while someone is trying to murder him. That generates more alarm than concern, I think.

Except maybe for the shredding part? I just thought Kyubey was gonna gobble the girls up in a few bites. Teeth were definitely involved.

I was kinda disappointed when it didn't happen because apparently I have this thing for gore in anime.

I would love a Kyubey plush but I wouldn't want to meet the real thing.

I figured there was something off about Kyuubey before I knew anything about the show. He has such dead eyes and I just can't trust something that never stops smiling.

I actually think the way he emotionally manipulates the girls is a lot creepier than if her were to literally eat them. He's a predator, but in a different way.

Kyuubi was never malicious. He just never even understood why the girls were suffering when he just looked at it as the circle of life. In Mahou Shoujo the energy of the girls was necessary for the universe to survive, and he was just doing his job.

Kyuubi is creepy because he doesn't empathize with anyone, but he didn't screw with the girls with evil intent.

The girls suffered because Kyuubi didn't tell them everything, though I'm sure he wouldn't have hidden anything if they asked the right questions.

That's why I can never really hate Kyuubi. I just see him as an alien doing his job to keep the universe running, which is pretty much what he is. It's just that I feel sorry for the girls having to be the source of that energy.

He was malicious as hell. None of them should have had to "ask the right questions" in the first damn place. He may not have understood why, but he knew they were suffering. His entire purpose was to make them suffer, just for the benefit of his home planet of psychopaths. He may not have thought is was evil, or even had a concept of evil, but it was still evil.

Blegh, character design fail. It looks like it has two sets of ears.
