Unpopular Opinion: I fucking loved Snow White and the Huntsman

It was the best straight-up, unflinching fantasy feature film in a really long time, and KStew did a really good job with her character, who was basically "stoic fantasy lead, with added X chromosome".

I'm just angry that the director is a skeezy bag of dicks, because it makes my ability to re-watch way less. Ugh, I hate that Hollywood trope so much and wish it would die in a fire.

I ALSO LOVED IT.

I disagree about the quality of KStew's acting, but it didn't ruin the movie for me. And Charlize Theron made up for any flaws. God, she was SO kickass as the Evil Queen.

I didn't dislike it (I was pleased that for once the female going-into-battle character TIED HER FUCKING HAIR BACK), but it was a little slow for me.

I was kind of impressed with KStew though, since I remember thinking she was amazing in Panic Room, and then all of a sudden she was this ~blah~ emotionless character everywhere, so it was nice to see her emote.

(I also loved Mirror, Mirror - but I won't compare the two when MM seemed to be marketed more as 'entertainment/humour' instead of drama like SW&tH.

My opinion on the movie is mixed. I quite liked some aspects of it, in that with the exception of Stewart (girl has no facial expressions, wtf?), the cast were great actors, and the battle sequences and special effects were fantastic. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to make up for the awful writing - I loved Theron, but her character got pretty much shafted with the lines she had to work with. :(

I liked KStew in it, but I felt like Charlize was overacting the ENTIRE WAY THROUGH which kind of ruined a lot of it for me. (I've seen Charlize Theron acting well/subtly before though, so I did just assume the ridiculous melodrama was a directing decision.)

I enjoyed it. It wasn't the best thing I've seen, but I guess my expectations were low - still, better than I had expected and I enjoyed the cast. Kstew was somewhat better than I expected. Evil!Charlize was great for what she had to work with.

I liked it a lot, the main issue I had was with the script, not the acting.
