This. When I bust my ass on something and someone says that I feel like they're dismissing my hard work as a way of making themselves feel better about not accomplishing things themselves.

It's not fair to use it to dismiss hard work, but sometimes people are just naturally better at certain things, occasionally to a tremendous extent.

Agreed. And I think a lot of the time people with a lot of talent or natural skill don't realize that. Because they do work hard, it's just that they've got a natural advantage to a lot of people working without those natural talents. My brother is like this. I love him and he works very hard, but he's also a genius and exceptionally talented and just does not understand that.

I feel the same, particularly about the wored "blessed" being used the same way.

A substitute teacher in one of my high school art classes looked at my work and said I was "blessed". I bit my tongue to avoid telling how hard I busted my ass on that painting, and all the thousands of other paintings, drawings, sketches, and doodles that proceeded it.
