Podcasts, anyone?
(Anonymous) 2012-10-29 02:27 am (UTC)(link)Re: Podcasts, anyone?
I don't really go looking for podcasts, I just listen to the Rooster Teeth one sometimes because I'm a longtime fan of Red vs Blue and I like listening to these dudes talk. Sometimes they talk more about their lives than games but I find that pretty entertaining.

If you're into indie games, or knowing more about indie devs, I definitely recommend Sup, Holmes?. Johnathan Holmes of Destructoid (actually a very sweet guy, and the antitheses of the site's reputation) basically interviews them and picks their brains. His interview with Anna Anthropy is probably one of my favourites for sure.
/report by rageprufrock and mklutz. slash report. It's a fandom podcast, really. The eps can be hit and miss (reviewing/discussing genres/shows neither has seen for instance, or various "author" talks which are just so darn boring imo), but I love it when the two main hosts discuss fandom, and fandom trends, or a show I'm currently into. It does get a bit heavy-handed when it seems as if they take themselves as grand understanders of the workings of fandom, but that's just my opinion and weirdo vibe.
As to where I find out about podcasts, I usually just browse blogs, or hear about something via word of mouth.
Re: Podcasts, anyone?
(Anonymous) 2012-10-29 09:41 am (UTC)(link)seriously, it's actually a really good podcast - the two hosts are basically just normal, smart dudes who really like anime and video games and have a good time the whole thing. they have a really solid rapport, most of the shows are very unstructured and rough and tend to branch out into weird diversions but it works because they're two reasonable dudes who get along well. it makes no attempt to be complete or rigorous or anything. if you like terrible anime, old video games, 80s action movies, or video games, you may enjoy it.
also, Dave, one of the hosts, does a LP kind-of thing called Jumping Through Boss Doors with his girlfriend, if that kind of thing is more your speed. very joke-y and not attempting to be rigorous, still cool. it's on youtube i can't be bothered to find a link sorry.
