Unbearably curious as to who the author is now. It's likely I've never read his/her work before if the pic is related as I don't read S3 as a general rule, but I am very curious now.

I'm afraid I'm picturing the secret being addressed TO Rodimus.

Because he's an idiot in IDW canon. A well-meaning idiot who does horrible things and is going to get everyone KILLED if he's not careful.

This is more common then you'd think. All these so-called fans think they know the canon so well cause they read other fanfic and wikipedia, but often they don't know jack shit.

Though it may be they are just really stupid and did watch it. But I'm more inclined to believe the former.

I have never seen a fic that depicted Hot Rod/Rodimus the way canon did.
He's either a total woobie-you-want-to-fuck or a total asshole. There is nothing inbetween.

Have you tried fic on AO3 or LJ? I've read plenty that's closer to canon for him.

Assholes can write great stories and nice people can suck at writing. If s/he really asks about it, just say something like "I like fics that stick closer to canon."

Why do you need to tell them? Unless they expect you to read their fic, there's no reason to say anything.

You don't. You just don't read their fic. It's just life that you aren't going to be able to enjoy every fic in existence, and it really has absolutely no correlation whatsoever to how nice the writer is. Some fics are going to rub you wrong, often for reasons you can't even put your finger on. Just learn to shrug it off, say "not my thing," and move on.

This, exactly. I can't read 99.9% of h/c fic, yet most people I know who write it write it well and are awesome people. It's just that my brain works in ways that make the vast majority of h/c hit me funny and creep me out even when it's clearly not supposed to.
