Maybe try recommending the other movies, without hating on Studio Ghibli as you recommend the other stuff, and that'll get people to check it out instead of wanting to fight with you?

I don't hate Studio Ghibli at all! I enjoyed films like Spirited Away enough, I just prefer Makoto Shinkai. I don't really ever recommend stuff, but I have nothing wrong with people who enjoy Studio Ghibli. It's just not really my thing.
