I sorta feel like that with Ghibli's movies as well. I haven't checked Makoto's movies, but I'm in love with Satoshi Kon's movies (Specially Tokyo Godfathers and Paprika).

Seconding the love for Satoshi Kon.

I think most of Satoshi Kon's films would be far too weird for OP to handle.

On the other hand, I love his works and all the symbolism packed into them.

Seriously, you shouldn't compare Studio Ghibli and Satoshi Kon. They're nothing alike.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-03 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh no no, I didn't compare Ghibli with Kon (which, like you said, they're nothing alike). I just said my personal preference, nothing else.
ext_81845: amuro ray from mobile suit gundam, in his underwear, from the doan's island episode (WTF?!)

So? They're alike in that both produced stand-alone anime films, I think that's a fair comparison to make and it's okay to like one and not the other

Thirding the love for Satoshi Kon.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-04 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Satoshi Kon is wonderful, but if OP thinks Ghibli films are "too weird", then Satoshi Kon's films are probably not going to be their cup of tea, either, seeing as most of them are FAR weirder.
