I'm just glad Season 2 stayed away from shit the episodes "Over a Barrel" and "Feeling Pinkie Keen" were made of. Interestingly, both were written by the same guy.

Ok, the "Derpy fiasco" was a really dumb move. Naming the pony after internet slang and having it talk and act like the dumbest person ever was too much and exploded into the biggest wank the entire MLP fandom has ever seen.
But this episode aside I really liked Season 2.

If that episode didn't decide to try to canonize a stupid internet meme spouted by 20-year-olds in a show intended for 5-year-olds, I would've loved it, because the point of it ("it's okay to not be the best all the time, and expecting somebody to be the best all the time puts a shit-ton of pressure on them") hit close to home and was something I really needed to hear when I was a kid. But... ugh, that just kinda ruined it for me. MLP isn't about internet culture and it isn't trying to be hip and edgy for the teens and preteens. I get enough of stupid internet memes on the internet, around my college campus, and as wink-wink-nudge-nudge in-jokes in my video games, and now I can't even get away from them in children's TV shows...
