That's definitely okay! I like them both, but they both have their strengths and weaknesses, and it makes sense that you'd prefer one of the other. That said, given how much respect Makoto Shinkai seems to have for Hayao Miyazaki, I doubt he'd be too fond of the idea of downtalking Ghibli films in order to build his own up. I think if you focus on the positives of the films you love instead of being frustrated by the popularity of the films everyone else loves, you'll end up a lot happier and have an easier time finding people who'd be willing to try your favorites.

Sorry, I know this sounds kinda preachy. ;_;

I actually had to Google Makoto Shinkai, and one of the first things I saw was that "Castle in the Sky" is his favorite movie, which put a weird edge on this secret ngl.
