spirited away is the one thing i really adored by ghibli. i've seen others and not really been too affected by them. i haven't seen much of makoto shinkai's stuff but what i saw didn't really do much for me. that said, i think both have some fantastic artwork happening.

it all comes down to ymmv and i would probably take more mamoru hosoda over them all any day. the girl who leapt through time and the old digimon movies will always be the loves of my life.

Yesss, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time was the first anime movie I sought out to watch and I have no regrets. <3

I was just about to comment saying the exact same thing. I'd sit down with the girl who leapt through time/summer wars/WOLF CHILDREN any day over a Studio Ghibli, even a Ghibli I haven't seen. I prefer the plots, the characters, the relationships, the stories.
