I'll go farther than you, I find it absolutely annoying that people can't just ship and let ship, trope and let trope, and just be a bit more open minded about trying new things. Fandoms are so much more fun when they are full of people who laugh and roll around in all the bounty and weirdness and imagination that fandom can offer. When people behave like fandom is their own personal property and they have to "defend" characters from other fans, they make fandom suck for everyone. Including themselves.
