That's the point, they're one-note joke characters because we won't be spending a lot of time with them anyway (with exception of Meenah and Aranea).

This. Joke characters based upon annoying internet archetypes, no less. I don't really think we're supposed to care. That said, Porrim seems interesting.

Which is kind of funny, because the exact opposite happened to me too, where I think he intended some characters to be likable and I just hate them. Jake, for instance. I really wouldn't be too upset if he dropped dead.

The new trolls are pretty much 98% of the reason I stopped reading Homestuck. They just seem so shoveled in and unnecessary.

There's every indication that they're not going to be around much longer, and in any case, the intermission's over so we're going back to the B2 kids for now. Besides, there won't be time to do much else with the A1 trolls when there are still 48 squiddles to introduce, I mean come on.

I think they're not all that depthful because they're not meant to stay. Since Meenah and Aranea are gonna be apart of the larger plot, they're more well-rounded and likable.

I dunno, if they were gonna stick around for the rest of the story without being more developed I'd probably hate them too, but since they're probably not I can enjoy them more. Plus, I think once the next act starts the attention is gonna shift back to the kids.

it's possible they're "boring" because they're probably not meant to be super significant characters?? they're all dead, for starters.

in any case, i like them. i think they serve their purpose in the story rather well, and i don't think they're boring at all.

Most of the trolls, including the previous set, suck because most of them are shallow, one-note, fillers of zodiac signs. Except for a handful.

[eta]huh. to be fair though, I do like the idea of them anyways. Even the terrible ones like Cronus. Just that in canon, I'm not expecting them to have any depth, so I've kinda preemptively labeled most of them boring (kurloz, nepeta, meulin, sollux, and so on...).

Some of the trolls are annoying imo (I think they're meant to be). Some are interesting. Rufioh, Porrim, Meenah and Aranea are ♥. Damara is also really cool. The rest are either meh or (in the case of Cronus and Kankri) obviously supposed to be really annoying and dumb.

Also, they're teenagers. Also, they're supposed to be parodies of overdone internet personas.

They were more concerned with their teen drama than actually doing anything, hence why Meenah decided to blow them all to shreds + only enter the afterlife a long while after everyone else did

I really wouldn't mind seeing Porrim stick around, but the others can just be sacrificed for Vriska's plan to amass a bunch of bait-ghosts for Lord English

I can't really stand Areana, but I can see she's important and unlikely to die yet :V

the rest are there just to show how much fucking around the dancestors did before scratching their session

Ugh i really agree. Because i know they're not meant to be taken seriously but normally I like hussie's characters even when they are jokes?? But these are just... bluh. It irritates me when I feel like he doesn't take his own comic that seriously any more when it's become something this big and is, you know, a multi-million dollar investment. I guess what I'm saying is that I understand the characters were meant to be crappy and make tumblr mad, but I don't think that was a good decision. It means I don't care what happens to them, and my interest in homestuck relies on me caring about the characters. The only one I'm incredibly fond of is meenah.

Ugh this. I'm just really sick of new characters in general. I want to focus on the ones we have and wrap up this story already.
