You're the first person I've met who has a positive opinion of him.

Before this, all the people I met online to people I knew in real life varied on a scale of "I didn't like him/found him annoying and enjoy making jokes at his expense" to "jhsdbfjhsdbfjhdfb" *frothing rage at his mention*.

I'm not sure why.

I just wanted to give him the biggest hug!

Oh yeah, people hate him. I do as well.

Mostly because he was constantly an ass to the Magic Knights as a "kid"
(it's hard to see him as a kid in that series...especially his "i'll make my friends kill people!! oh noes!! you killed them, how dare you!!" wtf, dude? what'd you expect?!) but after he changed, he's CONSTANTLY hanging around Umi, being the Nice Guy, minus the griping of a typical Nice Guy, and hoping she'll notice him and UGH it got fucking annoying.

It also didn't help that shipped Clef/Umi, so...

But yeah. He's hated for various reasons.

Aw, I liked Ascot. He has a cute poofy hat and lots of animal friends, what's not to love? (Unless someone's only seen the Rayearth OAV. OAV Ascot's an asshole. Then again, half the cast in the Rayearth OAV are assholes.)

Well, from what I remember from people I've encountered* it's because:

+He has a stupid name.
+He looks ugly.
+He is annoying.
+He's a horrible person for the way he uses his 'friends'.
+He creeps on Umi.
+He's a pervert.

That's all I remember.

*A lot of which I can no longer remember because it's been a while.

I love Eagle! I so wanted MKRII to end with a Hikuru/Eagle/Lantis OT3, but it didn't happen. Good old CLAMP, denying happy endings since the 80s.

(Does Eagle qualify as an under-appreciated and misunderstood character? TBH I don't know CLAMP fandom well enough to tell.) :B

I liked Eagle too. I don't know about his standing either though. But I think there was a shipping rivalry with him and Hikaru vs. Lantis and Hikaru. (At least, there was in the fandom of MKR I participated in.)

I'm not surprised at the shipping wars. I think my MKR sempai mentioned that, too, when I was watching the second series. *sigh* All three of the characters loved each other, why did ANYONE have to pick only one??? T.T

Eagle is also one of the most attractive men CLAMP has ever given us, AFAIC. :3

*Shrug* A lot of people don't like OT3s. So they picked one and the few multi-shippers went quiet. I guess no one bothered to keep them friends regardless of who was in a romantic relationship with whom.

Well, CLAMP has gotten a reputation for drawing pretty men. You probably have quite a few people who agree with you.

He totally does. He's my absolute favorite in all CLAMP, but when I went looking for him, a lot of the stuff was Lantis/Hikaru with EVIL SCHEMING EAGLE trying to break them up and have Hikaru all for himself.

I knew there was a reason I felt wary of looking for OT3 fic. This makes me very sad. :C

Well...there was a hope at the end of the Manga series. Eagle wasn't dead and was, HOPEFULLY, on the road to recovery and Hikaru could come back to Cephiro anytime she wanted. And Lantis was there and in love with her like whoa, so....

The anime however....

FUCK THAT ENDING!!! All that bullshit about them not being able to come back and a year later and and and....

I wanted my Hikaru/Lantis~~/Eagle~~ after all the SHIT Nova put them through!!

~~And I wanted my Clef/Umi that was SORELY HINTED AT.~~

Part II? Is there a part I and is it all about how the ending of XXXholic sucked because I have so much to say about that.

Under-appreciated characters... Himawari. When XXXholic started, I shipped Watanuki/Himawari even though it clearly wasn't going to be endgame.

Karen was one of my favorite characters in X, but I think she got a little lost since it was such a big cast. She's still just about the only hooker-with-a-heart-of-gold characters that I like.

Part I was here.

I have to say, I may not have liked how Xxxholic ended but I loved all the characters, Himawari being no exception. I didn't ship her but I just absolutely adored her character and when we found out about her bad luck I so very wished there was a way for her to find happiness despite that.

I...kind of shipped Keichii (sp?) with Kamui in X-1999. You know, that sweet, blond guy? Not particularly interesting, but Kamui was so hung up on Fuuma, who was terrible for him, whereas I think Keichii would have treated him right.

Also, I liked Fuuma/Kamui over a certain pairing-I-apparently-can't-name. Idk why. And Subaru/Kamui - I liked Subaru/Kamui a lot!

...I am a multishipper, if that's not obvious, and my ship feels got me off topic, lol. Most people I met in that fandom - and CLAMP fandom in general - typically stuck hard-and-fast to their OTPs.

Subaru/Kamui was my OTP. Even though the "endgame pair" for Subaru was heart rending...I prefered him with Kamui.

Me too, for the same reason!

I liked the tragic screwed-up-ness of Seishirou/Subaru and Fuuma/Kamui, but I always liked to believe, in the end, Subaru and Kamui both lived and finally found some peace in one another. :')

I have feelings about a lot of CLAMP stuff, but mostly about Legal Drug. I think it's the most interesting manga they had and they stopped doing iiiit. ._.

Now they have Drug and Drop, a continuation of Legal Drug, in case you didn't know? But, as a fellow LD and CLAMP fan, I recommend you wait till they complete it before you start reading. I'VE BEEN BURNED TOO MANY TIMES. *glares at a certain-forever-unfinished manga and xxxHolic's horrible ending*
