3. Pixar movies, ugh. Am I the only person who doesn't spend $3045403546546 on whenever they come out with because its, "One of those great family movies with 3D talking animals/inanimate objects."

*raises hand* I don't! I might enjoy some of these 3D movies from Pixar and Dreamworks and whatnot--I have a big soft spot for Shrek. But at most? I own the movies.

Because they oh, actually have thought and heart put into the characters and storylines compared to forgettable tripe like Shark Tale and Ant Bully?

THANK YOU WHOEVER YOU ARE.

Agree times a MILLION to infinity and beyond. D:

Agreeeed. Every other family movie makes me want to gouge my eyes out, but the Pixar ones have a lot more depth. They're actually for 'everyone' instead of being there to specifically serve as a moral lesson for kids.

3's OP here :)

Exactly! Also, I wonder if people notice that when one of those other studios comes out with something, like for example, a movie about forest animals...all the other studios make a movie about forest animals as well. This has happened with penguins, bugs, fairy tales, and zoo animals as well. But when Pixar makes a movie? It's so original and so well done there is no room at all in the market for any knock-offs. We all know what happened to Antz right? ;)

[identity profile] icthyopook.livejournal.com 2007-08-15 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Pixar movies are way more than your average run of the mill '3D money maker' from Dreamworks or whoever made that awful movie Happily N'Ever After.

One would hope people could tell the difference between Finding Nemo and A Shark's Tale, but maybe I'm wrong. ):

then you haven't watched either.

and there's absolutely no difference between this and this?

i know the films are similar in that they're computer animated and are about fish. but come on. even if you hate both, they're nothing alike.

I wouldn't bother trying to convince people who just don't get it. :/ It's not worth it.

Haha, I hate them too. I can't stand to watch them, it makes me want to shoot something. Galdjlgjal. I think the last animated film I actually enjoyed was Curious George, but I think (in general) Pixar films are really hackneyed.

*snerk* And to think, in the last F!S post, everyone else was shanking people who didn't like Disney! THE HORROR OF BEING ALLOWED YOUR OWN OPINIONS. GASP.

I hated Finding Nemo. I wanted to flush Nemo down the toilet. *is shot* Honestly, I think the problem with these types of movies is that 1.) they make me really uncomfortable with their sexual innuendo--why do they even HAVE that, if this is supposed to be a "family film"?; 2.) their main characters don't come across as very real, they seem more like archetypes to me; and 3.) the whole enterprise just smacks of poorly-executed moral stories. I don't pay to learn a moral, dammit. I pay to be entertained.

What happened to quality animated movies without the blatant morals? :(

But yeah, once they saw how well Finding Nemo did, they went and abused the whole 3D animation movies. Now I think there's too many of them.

I'll agree with 2 and 3 on some levels but.. wh.. what sexual innuendo do pixar films have? aside from the maybe 2 moments in ratatouille? there's WAY more in the shrek series...

Re: 3

[identity profile] twelve.livejournal.com 2007-08-16 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, when I was speaking of "these types of films" I was talking about most animated films in general, not necessarily limited to Pixar ones. Shrek does have a higher rating than Cars did, though, which was partly why I was so bewildered by the innuendo in Cars. I only watched the movie once, but there's repeated parallels made between the underside of a car = ass. Remember that one scene where McQueen walks in on that one car in the body shop and is really embarrassed that he's seen a car with it's... hood down? Something like that. And the car is all, "I hoped you liked the view! :D". THAT made me really uncomfortable.

I don't really understand why a G-rated animated film has to have any sort of sexual innuendo like that at all. Then again, maybe I'm being old-fashioned.

[identity profile] veevega.livejournal.com 2007-08-16 02:14 pm (UTC)(link)
ahaha, i kinda forgot about that XD it's refreshing when there's a kid's film with NO innuendo at all, but usually.. the writers are adults, and they want to at least give parents a nod. and everybody has a tushy. kdsfgs.

LOL, "old-fashioned"?! You're a fucking prude if that sort of thing made you uncomfortable!

Hahaha, I just...I can't stop laughing at you and your prudeness...
