Not that I think everybody who uses fanart in their icons has an entitlement complex. (When I scan doujinshi I've bought I'll sometimes make icons of it and offer them to friends.) Just the people who share fanart icons widely and demand credit for them, then get all riled up about OMG YOU ARE A DUMB WANKER BLAH BLAH I'M TOO COOL FOR THAT when people get annoyed.
8) You know, it kind of detracts from the point of big dramatic secrets like that when you use obscure images/don't identify the movie in question.

(Anonymous) 2007-08-16 01:34 am (UTC)(link)Shit yeah, entitlement complex+++++++
People think they can't fucking survive without fanart and official art to use - well I dunno, do you see all those Japanese fansites (which in general tend to have better art than Western circles, and have mostly ORIGINAL CONTENT) using others' fanart without permission all over their sites, and then being unashamed of it (that is still... fine, but claiming credit for it and getting so bloody worked up that it's YOUR creative work... no.)
They get pissed off about others stealing their work? Well to them I can only say: you too are stealing their work. Retards.
